Obituary

Everett Lee Kitrell, 89, of Holton, KS passed away Sunday, August 7, 2011 at Community Hospital in Onaga. He was born February 20, 1922 in Russellville, Arkansas, the son of Harby L. and Gertrude Voss Kitrell. Everett was in the first graduating class at the new Will Rogers High School in Tulsa, OK in 1939. He was a pipeline welder for many years and had lived most of his adult life in the Holton community.
Everett served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge #42 both in Holton. He was also a member of the Pipeliners Union Local #798.
He was married to Doris Bowser on February 23, 1942. She survives. Other survivors include his son, Jerry Kitrell (Carol) of Holton, KS; his daughter, Diana Ray (Jerry) of Circleville, KS; 5 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday August 10, 2011 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Interment will be in Holton Cemetery. The family will greet friends 6:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to First Baptist Church c/o Mercer Funeral Home, Box 270, Holton, KS.
