EVERETT KING JR

Everett King JR, 69, Valley Falls, formerly of Westminster, SC and El Paso, TX, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006, at the home of his sister, Linda Metzger, west of Valley Falls.
Mr. King was an electrician at a food processing plant and at a Levi Strauss manufacturing plant, both at El Paso Texas for 30 years. Before moving to Valley Falls he had lived at Westminster, SC for five years. At Westminster he was a member of the First Baptist Church.
He was born May 31, 1937, at Ozawkie, the son of Everett and Lilly Meyers King SR. He attended Ozawkie High School and served in the US Army.
He married Reynalda Serrano on Dec. 20, 1960, at El Paso, TX. They were divorced. He was preceded in death by a brother, Daryle King, and three sisters, Lecta Decker, Betty Debure and Arlene Payne.
Survivors include four sons, Everett King III, Don William King, and Mark Anthony King, all of El Paso, and Rodney Matthew King, San Antonio, TX; two stepsons, Pete Lopez, Phoenix, and Fernie Lopez, El Paso; three daughters, Tanya Dieter, El Paso, Tara Carter, Westminster, SC, and Kimberly Bade, Berlin, Germany; a brother, Alvin King, Oskaloosa; four sisters, Oleta King, Valley Falls, Louise Illig, Topeka, Darlene Boyette, Deepwater, MO, and Linda Metzger, Valley Falls; 14 grandchildren and a great grandchild.
A memorial graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007, at the Ozawkie Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by Grahem-Herbers Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3084. Memorial contrbutions may be made to Jefferson County EMS District 11 and sent in care of Mercer Funeral Home, 810 Broadway, Valley Falls, KS 66088.
