Obituary

Shawnee Mission, KS- Eva Ann McCluskey Pickard, 94, of Shawnee Mission, KS and wife of the late Dr. Nicholas Stark Pickard, passed away April 17, 2008 at her home after a long illness. She was born on 57th St. in the Country Club district of Kansas City on March 20th, 1914 the daughter of William Rutland and Eva Halsell McCluskey. She attended Bryant School, Sunset Hill School, Bennett College in New York, and then spent a year in Europe with Miss Stout's program.
She married Dr. Nicholas Stark Pickard on September 2, 1937 in New York City, NY. He passed away in 1993.
She and Dr. Pickard lived in New York and Boston during his residency and specialty training before returning to Kansas City. She was a member of the Junior League, the Kansas City Country Club, the '81 Club, a charter member of the Nelson-Atkins Museum Society of Fellows, St. Andrew's Episcopal Church and Trinity Anglican Church.
She will be missed by her family; a son and daughter-in-law, Guy and Sharon Pickard, of Fairway, KS; a daughter, Josephine Pickard Gordon Foote and son in law, Steven, of Cambridge, MA; three grandchildren, Tracy Gordon Dunn, Capt. Andrew P. Gordon, and Nicholas Pickard; two great grandsons, Russell and Alexander Dunn; and her sister-in-law Darlene McCluskey.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at the Trinity Anglican Church (3920 W. 63rd St, Prairie Village, KS). Private family burial will be in the Forest Hills Cemetery in Kansas City, MO. A reception will follow at the Kansas City Country Club. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial may be given to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art or the Johnson County Library Foundation.
