Fernkopf
HOLTON—Eugene M. Fernkopf, 83, of Holton, died Friday, April 28, 2006 at the Holton Community Hospital. He was born August 27, 1922 in Holton, the son of Michael Carl and Mabel C. Stephenson Fernkopf.
Eugene graduated from Holton High School in 1941 and lived all of his life in the Holton Community. He was a farmer and stockman and later worked for Holton Transport for over 20 years before retiring. He was a member of the Evangel United Methodist Church and taught Sunday School at the church for many years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #20 in Circleville, Scottish Rite in Topeka and IOOF in Holton all for over 50 years. He was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star #152 in Holton.
He married Madene George on December 25, 1948 in Elkhart, Ks. She survives. Other survivors include 2 sons Robert Fernkopf of Holton, Steven Fernkopf of Rosenheim, Germany; a sister Donna Parmiter of Holton; a brother Forrest Fernkopf of Topeka; 2 granddaughters Lura Gaston of Topeka, Emily Fernkopf of Holton; and 1 great granddaughter Jaelyn Gaston of Topeka. He was preceded in death by a sister Norene Arnold and a brother Kenneth Fernkopf.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 1, 2006 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be in the Holton Cemetery. Family will greet friends Sunday evening from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Evangel United Methodist Church c/o Mercer Funeral Home P.O.
