BROCKELMAN
HOLTON- Carl Eugene Brockelman, 74, of Holton passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at Jackson County Nursing Home in Holton.
He was born October 3, 1931 in Holton, KS, the son of Fred and Mary Hochmuth Brockelman. He attended Banner Elementary School and graduated from Holton High School in 1949. He graduated from Kansas State University in 1956 with a degree in Ag-Economics. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 with most of that time in Korea. He spent 2 years in St. Louis, MO on the market research staff of Doane Agriculture Service. He then returned to Kansas to engage in raising cattle and sheep. He was a farmer and stockman most of his life.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Holton and Banner Grange west of Holton. He had been a board member of Jackson Farmers, Inc. and Brown Atchison Electric Coop.
He was married to Anne Joyce Rodgers on February 16, 1957 in St. Louis, MO. She survives. Other survivors include his daughters, Janet Hamilton of Topeka, KS and Julie Gladbach and her husband, Ralph of Bellevue, NE, his sister, Helene Shaffer and her husband, Jim of Sarasota, FL and his grandchildren, Meredith and Chris Gladbach and Elizabeth and Alex Hamilton.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 14, 2006 at the First United Methodist Church in Holton. Interment will be in the Haas Cemetery west of Holton. Family will greet friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday evening at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
