Eugene Breitsprecher, 84, Valley Falls, died Tuesday, June 18, 2013,
at a Topeka care facility.
He was born on Jan. 7, 1929, at Cresco, IA, the son of Frederick Carl and Stella Voves Breitsprecher. He graduated from Valley Falls High School.
Gene was a television technician at Steinmetz Service in Valley Falls. He had worked at the Rio Theater as a projector operator and as a repairman for Olden Appliance, both in Valley Falls. He was a member of the National Rifle Association.
He married Elizabeth Jane Stone on Nov. 12, 1981, at Oskaloosa. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Breitsprecher and Melvin Breitsprecher.
Survivors include his wife Jane, Topeka; four stepsons, Jerry (Diane) Morse, Raymond (Beverly) Stone, and Larry Stone, all of Topeka, and Glen (Marsha) Stone, Macon, GA; two stepdaughters, Judy Stone and Glenna (Jerry) Ortiz, all of Topeka; three stepbrothers, Marvin Smith, Redding, CA, Clarence Smith, Topeka, and Howard Smith, Lecompton; three stepsisters, Leita Hiebsch, Bessie Brewer, and Dorothy Frost, all of Topeka; 19 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls. Burial will follow at the Valley Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until service time.
