Obituary

TOPEKA- Esther "Viola" Fields, 85, of Topeka, formerly of Onaga, KS passed away December 6, 2009 at Aldersgate Village in Topeka. She was born August 26, 1924 in Jackson, SD the daughter of Walter Thomas and Rena Wilson Franklin Baker.
She had lived in Pottawatomi county most of her life, including Frankfort, Blaine, Onaga, Havensville, Warsaw and earlier Carbondale, Scranton and Burlingame. She was a member of the Onaga Baptist Church.
Viola married Roscoe Russell Fields on June 14, 1946 in Topeka. He passed away July 12, 2007. She was also preceded in death by a son Steven Fields; three sisters, Elizabeth Noltje, Juanita Newberry and Retha Mae Kuehl; a grandson, Daniel Fields and a great grandson, Curtis Smith.
Survivors include three sons, Richard Fields (Deloras) of Netawaka, KS, Bob Fields (Tammy) of Osage City, KS, Terry Fields (Teresa) of Topeka, KS; 6 grandchildren and 11great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, December 11, 2009 at Neuchatel Cemetery north of Onaga, KS. Family will greet friends 1:00- 2:00 p.m. at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton before leaving in procession to the cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Helping Hands Humane Society c/o Mercer Funeral Home P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
