Obituary

Holton – Elva Margaret McCrory, 92, Holton, KS, died Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at the Holton Community Hospital. She was born October 13, 1930, in Idana, KS, the daughter of Robert James and Amelda J. (Black) Mann.

Elva graduated from Clay Center High School.  She worked for Duckwalls in Clay Center. At her home north of Denison, she was a homemaker, farmwife and childcare provider.  Most recently, while living with her daughter Barbara, Elva developed a special relationship with her great-grandchildren, Oliver and Everly.

Elva married Harold McCrory September 5, 1955.  He preceded her in death June 6, 2006, after 50 years of marriage.  She was also preceded in death by a sister, Clara McCrory, and brother, Howard Mann.

Survivors include her daughters, Linda Mierau (Cameron) Portland, OR, and Barbara Harman (Dale) Holton, KS; 5 grandchildren, Ian (Julia), Jeff (Monica), Luke (Angela), Micah (Hannah) and Rachelle (Richard); 3 great-grandchildren, Felix, Oliver, Everly; 2 step-grandchildren, Dale and Gayli; 4 step- great grandchildren, Danielle, Alysa, David and Clyde.

Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 7, 2023, at the Denison Reformed Presbyterian Church in Denison, Kansas. Burial will follow at the Denison Cemetery.  Family will greet friends from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. Friday, October 6, 2023, at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Denison RP Church c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
