Elmore L. "Bud" Chambers, 88, Valley Falls, died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at his home.
He was born on Sept. 3, 1925, near Alta Vista, the son of Arthur and Alvena Reineke Pape Chambers . He served in the US Navy.
Bud farmed north of Valley Falls. He had worked in the Maintenance Department at the Topeka Post Office. He had also worked at the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Plant in Topeka. He was a member of the Coal Creek United Methodist Church and American Legion Bicentennial Post 225 at Ozawkie.
He married Lola Higgins on Dec. 31, 1947, at Topeka. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Charlene Eberhart, on Oct. 4, 2003, and a sister, Myrtle Eberhart.
Survivors include his wife, Lola, of the home; a son, Mike Chambers (Ann Frakes), Valley Falls; and three grandchildren, Brian Welch, Ben Welch, and Savannah Chambers.
A graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at the Prairie View Cemetery, southeast of Alta Vista. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls.
