Elma Mae Spiker, 89, of Holton, KS, formerly of Wetmore, passed away Saturday, July 05, 2008 at the Holton Hospital. She was born November 8, 1918 in Goff, KS, the daughter of George and Clara Troxel Bontrager.
Elma attended Morning Star Grade School and Goff High School. She was a homemaker. She moved to Holton from Wetmore in 2002. Elma was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Holton and the First Presbyterian Auxiliary. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Modern Study Club both in Wetmore.
She was married to Warren C. Spiker on January 27, 1938 in Topeka, KS. He passed away on May 24, 2001. She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Roger Charles Spiker in 1945. She is survived by a son, Steven Spiker and his wife, Betty; daughter, Carol Lopez of San Ramon, CA; a brother, Leo Scott Bontrager of Wetmore, KS; a sister, Gladys Ward of Independence, MO; grandchildren, Angela Lopez, Jeff Spiker, Scott Spiker, and Deanne Tanking; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be in the Wetmore Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 7-9 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
