Elizabeth Mae Means, 84, Meriden, died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, at her home.
She was born on Feb. 15, 1927, at Dodge City, the daughter of William and Eva Drummond Armstrong.
Beth was a homemaker and enjoyed raising cattle. She had worked in food service at the Washburn Rural schools and at Bishop's Diner and the Jayhawk Hotel in Topeka.
She married Frederick A. Means on March 20, 1949, at Bentonville, AR. He died on July 17, 2007. She was also preceded in death by five brothers, Lloyd Armstrong, Elvin Armstrong, Robert Armstrong, Marvin Lee McKeage and Jack McKeage and two nephews, Eddie Langston and Bruce Langston.
Survivors include a son, Johnie Means and his wife, Jessie, Meriden; a brother, William Armstrong, Berryton; a sister, Margaret Langston, Covington, TN; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls. Burial will follow at the Valley Falls Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Jefferson County Service Organization and sent in care of the funeral home, PO Box 6, Valley Falls, KS 66088.
