WHITING-Eldon "Max" Brey, 68, of Whiting, died Monday, February 4, 2008 at his home. He was born January 14, 1940 in Topeka, KS, the son of Charles Raymond and Mildred Marion Baker Brey.
Max graduated from Ozawkie High School in 1958 and was a farmer and stockman in Jackson and Jefferson counties all of his life. He was also an avid fisherman.
He was married to Diana Wenger. They were divorced. He later married Tharon Gay Stauffer on February 27, 1976 in Holton, KS. She survives. Other survivors include his daughter, Susie Hudson and her husband Jeff of Topeka; his son, Tony Brey and his wife Shelby of Whiting; step daughter, Gay Schumaker and her husband Dennis of Whiting; step son, Max McClellan and his wife Crystal of Salina; brothers, Charles Brey, Topeka, Edward Brey and his wife Susan of Columbus, KS; Sister, Marion Schlaegel and her husband Gary of Whiting; 11 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 8, 2008 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton, KS. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery in Whiting, KS. Family will greet friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
