Edward L. Twombly, 82, of Denison formerly of Circleville died Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at a Topeka hospital.
He was born July 4, 1923 in rural Hoyt the son of Lee Roy and Lena Mae McAlexander Twombly. He was a plaster and brick layer. He served in the Army during World War II.
Edward married Doris Brownlow, they were later divorced. He is survived by sons, James E. Twombly of Highland and William L. Twombly of Denison; daughter, Cynthia A. Cluck of Highland; brothers, Harlan E. Twombly of Hemet, CA and Alfred E. Twombly of Holton; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded by brothers, Charles S. Twombly, Clarence L. Twombly, and Harvey McAlexander.
Mr. Twombly will be cremated. Burial will be in the South Denison Cemetery. There will be a book available to sign at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Memorials may be given to the Edward Twombly memorial fund which will be designated at a later date and can be sent in care of Mercer Funeral Home, Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
