Edward Delaine "Nash-Wa-Duk" Samqua, 80, of Topeka, KS passed away Sunday, August 27, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka. He was born April 13, 1937 on the Kickapoo Reservation, near Horton, KS, the son of Louis and Emma (Cadue) Samqua.
Ed attended Red Top Grade School on the reservation and graduated from Powhattan High School in 1955. He was a drywall finisher, he worked for Lou Wabaunsee, Wyatt & Huhs and Kimble construction companies.
Ed was a member of the Kennekuk Church and had attended Bethel Baptist in Topeka. He was also a member of the Kickapoo Tribe and Painter's Union.
He married Corrine Kay Arnold on April 8, 1961 in Holton. She survives of the home.
Including his wife, Corrine; he is also survived by his 3 children, Steve E. Samqua, Gary D. Samqua (Lisa) and Carol D. Samqua all of Topeka, KS and 2 grandchildren, John and Serena Samqua.
He was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Beulah Oliver, Vera Baldwin and Bertha Lieb and 3 brothers, Pascal, Cletuis and Laverne Samqua.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 31, 2017 at the Kickapoo Community Building with burial to follow in the Kennekuk Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Memorials may be given to the Topeka Bethel Baptist Church c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O.
