Edna F. McKinsey, 92, of Holton, KS passed away Saturday, June 6, 2009 at a local nursing home. She was born September 19, 1916 in Bunker Hill, KS. She was the daughter of Harry E. and Robena Berry Meers. She was raised northeast of Wetmore and moved to Holton in 1946.
She worked at Boeing in Wichita during World War II. She worked at Slimaker Dress Factory for 23 years. She also worked with her husband at Gossip Printing in Holton and later at the Holton Country Club. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Holton. She was a 50 year member of Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #152, and a long time member of the Holton Country Club.
Edna married Roy Wade and they were later divorced. She married Dale A. McKinsey on July 14, 1951 in Holton. He preceded her in death in August 1998. She was also preceded by 2 sisters and 2 brothers. Edna is survived by a son, Rex A. Wade of Colorado Springs, CO; nieces, Ruth Craig and Doris Bontrager both of Holton.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Cremation will follow the service and inurnment will be at Holton Cemetery at a later date. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Tuesday. Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church c/o Mercer Funeral Home, Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
