Edgar "Ed" Warren Shaw, 86, of Silver Lake, KS, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Stormont Vail Hospital. He was born October 2, 1932 in Eskridge, KS, the son of Leo and Nellie (Henderson) Shaw.
Ed graduated from Eskridge High School in 1950. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Ed worked for the Supply Depot in Topeka for over 7 years. He then worked for the United States Postal Service, retiring after 30 years in 1987 as a contracting officer. For the next 20 years he raised Limousin Cattle.
He was a member of the Silver Lake United Methodist Church, NARFE, volunteer fire fighter and Silver Lake American Legion Post 160. Ed enjoyed many years growing, picking and selling produce at the "farmer's market"
Ed married Leah Mae Bahnmaier on July 22, 1957 in Topeka; they celebrated over 61 years of marriage.
Survivors include his wife, Leah, of the home; 2 sons, Steven W. Shaw (Cindy) of Silver Lake, KS and Alan Shaw of Wakarusa, KS; a daughter, Louann Austin of Silver Lake, KS; a brother, Eldin Shaw (Fern) of Topeka, KS; 8 grandchildren, Tracy Mercer (Chris), Scott Sloop (Rosie), Justin Shaw (Deb), Shanda Dorsey (BJ), Warren Shaw (Emma), Chloe Austin, Colbe Austin and Claire Austin; 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandsons.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 19, 2018 at Silver Lake United Methodist Church. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Prairie Home Cemetery. Family will greet friends one hour prior to service time. Memorials may be given to the Silver Lake United Methodist Church or American Legion Post 160 c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O.
