Earl Richard Bowie, 91, of Burleson, TX, formerly of Holton, KS passed away Monday, January 16, 2017 at Mustang Creek Estates in Burleson, TX. He was born March 26, 1925 near Valley Falls, KS the son of Joseph Harvey and Dora Elaine (Hitlerbrand) Bowie.

Earl had lived in Holton from 1998 - 2015 and in McLouth from 1955-1998. He had moved to Texas in 2015. He was a farmer and dairyman most of his life.

Earl married Melva Luella Tosh on April 12, 1946 in Valley Falls, KS. She preceded him in death on September 17, 2015. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Chris Bowie and 10 siblings.

Survivors include 4 sons, Gary Bowie of Austin, TX, Kenneth Bowie (Linda) of Crowley, TX, Keith Bowie (Debra) of Hoxie, KS and Dennis Bowie (Penny) of Lawrence, KS; a sister, Ruth Ethington of Emporia, KS; 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in the Valley Falls Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
