MAYETTA- Douglas Cleland Wahwasuck, 65, of Mayetta died Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at his home. He was born January 10, 1941 in Rose, Oklahoma, the son of Luther C. and Cecelia Johnson Wahwasuck. He had moved to Mayetta, Kansas from Seattle, Washington in 1993.
He had worked as a carpet installer and also as a truck driver. He was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation.
He was married to Kathryn Mead-Specht on September 4, 1978 in Wichita, Kansas. She survives. Other survivors include his daughters, Aleshia Ipsen and Amber Cox both of Wichita, his sons, Michael Douglas Wahwasuck and his wife, Tammy of Lakewood, Colorado, Robert Specht and his wife, Janet of Aurora, Colorado and Stephen Specht of Aurora, his sisters, Donna Wahwasuck of Seattle and Phylis Thomas of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, 6 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He will lie in state Friday evening at his home. Dinner and a wake will begin at sunset Friday. Burial will be in Wahwaksum Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Saturday. Online condolences are available at www.mercerfuneralhome.com
