LENEXA, KS- Dorothy Mae Porter, 101, of Lenexa, KS, formerly of Denison, KS, passed away Friday, May 13, 2022 at Silvercrest at College View Senior Living. She was born May 4, 1921 in Mayetta, KS, the daughter of Ray and Eleanor (Robb) Knowles.

Dorothy graduated from Denison High School and received Normal Teacher training at Emporia State University for a one-room schoolhouse. She was a member of the Denison community from early age until 2017. Dorothy was a dairy farmwife, helping her husband, John, on the family farm. She was a member of the Denison Bible Church.

Dorothy married John Porter on June 11, 1943 in Denison. He preceded her in death on January 18, 2004; after 60 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Eleanor Knowles; a sister, Annette Knowles and a brother, Willard Knowles.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda Skaggs (Michael) of Olathe, KS and a son, James Bruce "J.B." Porter of California.

Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2022 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Dorothy will lie in state Thursday, May 19 ^th , & Friday, May 20 ^th .  Burial will follow at the Denison Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Denison Bible Church c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O.
