Obituary
Doris L. Messersmith, 62, Valley Falls, died Sunday, March 11, 2012, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on April 11, 1949, at Great Bend, the daughter of William and Mary Brown Hutchings. She graduated from Scott City High School.
Doris had been a Supervisor at Luce Press Clippings in Topeka, where she had worked for 30 years. She was a member of the Countryside Baptist Church.
She married Gary D. Messersmith on Aug. 30, 1969, at Scott City. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Jeffy Hutchings; and a sister, Yvonne Hutchings.
Survivors include her husband, Gary, of the home; two daughters, Karrie Ann Eckhardt, Cummings, and Alisa Gail (Tony) Lansing, Valley Falls; her sister Sheila Palkowitsh, Wichita; and five grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2012, at Countryside Baptist Church, 10328 Wellman Rd, McLouth. Burial will follow at the Valley Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls.
