Doris Maxine Kitrell, 94, of Holton, KS passed away Monday, July 17, 2017 at Medicalodge Jackson County. She was born March 25, 1923 in Mayetta, KS the daughter of Cecil and Effie (Johnson) Bowser.

Doris graduated from Holton High School in 1941. She was a life-long member of the Jackson County community. Doris was a homemaker and housewife. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Holton.


She married Everett Kitrell on February 23, 1942 in Holton. He preceded her in death on August 7, 2011. She was also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Maurine Calderwood and Alberta Townsend and 2 brothers, Lyman and John Bowser.


Survivors include a son, Jerry Kitrell (Carol) of Mayetta, KS; a daughter, Diana Ray (Jerry) of Holton, KS; a brother, Cecil Lee Bowser (Betty) of Mayetta, KS; 5 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.


Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 21, 2017 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in the Holton Cemetery.
