Doris L. Bontrager, 95, of Holton, KS passed away Friday, June 28, 2013 at Holton Community Hospital. She was born May 25, 1918 in Fairview, KS the daughter of John Herman and Malinda (Gildhouse) Bohnenkemper.

Doris attended Lone Star Country School and Netawaka schools. She was a homemaker and farmwife. Doris was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Holton and the Mary Circle and Sewing Circle both at the church. She belonged to the Extension Homemakers Unit – C.C.C. northeast of Holton and was a longtime member of the Wednesday Club and served as 4-H Leader for Lucky Stars.

She married Clayton Porter Bontrager on January 1, 1940 in Netawaka, KS. He preceded her in death on October 29, 1994.

Survivors include 2 sons, Roger Bontrager (Connie) of Holton, KS and Richard Bontrager (Susan) of Holton, KS; a daughter, Shirley Stauffer (Bud) of Mayetta, KS; 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 1 great-great granddaughter and 1 on the way.

Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will in the Holton Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening.
