Dorena May Bacon, 75, of Holton, KS formerly of Redlands, CA, passed away July 3, 2014 at Stormont Vail Hospital. She was born November 15, 1938 in Ft. Wayne, IN the daughter of Glenn Dore and Evelyn (Session) Seip.

Dorena graduated in 1959 from Colton High School in California. She had lived most of her life in California and had lived about 10 years in Holton. She was a retired LPN.

Dorena was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Holton and Lutheran Women's Missionary League. She was also a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Redlands, CA. Dorena was also a Brownie, Girl Scout Leader, Den Mother and served as past president and treasurer of PTA while in California.

She married Roy Edward Bacon, they later divorced. Survivors include a son, Russell E. Bacon (Heather) of Holton; a daughter, Mary Jean Murray (Scott) of Camp Verde, AZ; 2 sisters, Linda Kay Wyss of Russellville, MO and Jean Irene Pogue of MO; a brother, LeRoy Seip of Bloomington, CA; 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Dorena was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Safley and a brother Glenn Seip.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Holton. Burial will be in Holton Cemetery. The family will greet friends Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
