Dorcas E. Turner, 89, Valley Falls, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010, at Village Villa Care Center at Nortonville.
She was born on March 18, 1921, at Bendena, KS, the daughter of Robert E. and Violet Mae Ricklefs Corcoran. She graduated from Atchison County Community High School in 1939.
Dorcas was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church at Lancaster, Order of the Eastern Star No. 399 at Meriden, Rebekah Lodge No. 652 at Valley Falls and Women of the Moose.
She married Albert W. Becker on Oct. 19, 1941, at Lancaster. He died on Jan. 2, 1950. She married James L. Turner Jr. on Dec. 23, 1950. They farmed in the Coal Creek Community north of Valley Falls. Mr. Turner died on May 21, 1980. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Corcoran and Byron Corcoran. Survivors include several nephews and nieces.
The graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, at the Coal Creek Cemetery, north of Valley Falls. Relatives and friends will meet at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls at 2:00 pm for the procession to the cemetery.
