Holton- Donna Belle Bain, 99, formerly of Whiting, KS, passed away August 7, 2009 at Medicalodges Jackson County. She was born September 11, 1909 in Blue Rapids, KS the daughter of William and Anne Hurlburt Taylor.
Donna graduated from Vermillion High School in 1928. She was a homemaker, farmwife and worked as a certified nurse's aide at Holton Hospital for 6 years and Merry Manor (in Holton, KS) for 3 years. She was a former member of the Netawaka United Methodist Church and a member of the OES Zenith Chapter # 184 of Hiawatha, KS (formerly OES Whiting Chapter #287).
She married Ernest Bain on July 9, 1928 in Seneca, KS. He passed away December 16, 1966. She was also preceded in death by 3 sons, Robert, Gale and Wesley Bain and a daughter, Evelyn Raugewitz.
Local survivors include granddaughters, Debbie White and Cindy Christian both of Holton, KS; grandsons, Brian Bain of Whiting, KS and Bryson Bain of Holton, KS; great granddaughters, Jenny White and Sarah Kennedy; great grandsons, Brad Bell, Jeremy Bain, Travis Christian and Aaron Bain and many more grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be in the Springhill Cemetery (Whiting, KS).
