Donald Richard Montgomery, 82, of Soldier, KS, passed away Friday, September 30, 2022 at Medicalodge Jackson County. He was born December 1, 1939 in Bowling Green, KY, the son of Gilbert and Stella (Cassidy) Montgomery.

Don proudly served in the United States Air Force, retiring after 28 years in 1993; 12 years as active duty and 16 years with Air National Guard. He worked for Goodyear Tire Company for 9 ½ years and owned and operated Don's Auto Service in Mayetta.

Don married Margaret Hurla; they later divorced.

He married Anne "Charlene" Roberts on January 5, 1980 in Miami, OK. They celebrated over 42 years of marriage.

Survivors include his wife, Charlene Montgomery of the home; 5 children, Joseph Montgomery (Jerri) of Topeka, KS, Catherine Montgomery of Topeks, KS; Stella Riley (Stan) of Nacogdoches, TX, William "Billy" Montgomery (Melissa VanDonge) of Topeka, KS and Brandy Montgomery of Holton, KS; 3 step-children, Randy Zule, Lisa Stumpf (Bill) of Mayetta, KS and Tracy Zule (Tiffany) of Soldier, KS; sister, Amanda of Kentucky brother, Paul Scott of Kentucky and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Stella Montgomery; 2 sisters, Margaret and Christine and 3 brothers, Bob, Doug and Gilbert Montgomery.
