Obituary

Donald Earl Flory, 56, Valley Falls, died Friday, April 25, 2014, at St. Francis Health Center in Topeka.

He was born on Jan. 17, 1958, in Winchester, the son of George Elvin and Pearl M. Gontz Flory. He graduated from Valley Falls High School in 1976.

Don was a farmer-stockman. He owned a hunting preserve on his own property and had operated Crazy D's Tavern in Effingham. He had worked at Armstrong Farms at Muscotah, Golden Eagle Casino at Horton, and Sac & Fox Casino at Powhattan. He had been a road grader operator for Benton Township in Atchison County. He had attended Coal Creek United Methodist Church.

He married Jenny Wiltz Meyer on Oct. 1, 1998, at Valley Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Ronald Flory.

Survivors include his wife, Jenny, of the home; two sons, Levi (Kateri) Flory, Basehor, and Eli Flory, Effingham; a daughter, Diane (Kyle) Logan, Oklahoma City, OK; step-son Quintin Meyer, Sabetha; step-daughter, Cheryl (Darin) Bergman, Wichita; two sisters, Ruth Prather, Oskaloosa, and June Long, Meriden; five grandchildren and six step-grandchildren.

The Memorial Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.
