Obituary

Donald D. Carder, 84, Valley Falls, died Friday, March 18, 2016, at Midland Care at Linnwood Park Assisted Living at Valley Falls.

He was born Jan. 2, 1932, at Studley, KS, the son of Lonnie and Minnie Simon Carder. He graduated from Hoxie High School in 1950.

Don had been a resident of Valley Falls since 1965. He retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in Topeka after 35 years of service and was a member of United Steel Workers Local Union 307. He was a member of the Valley Falls Christian Church where he had served as a Deacon. He and his wife, Lois, were members of the Touring Bikes of Kansas.

He married Lois M. Hale July 29, 1951, at Hoxie. She died Nov. 19, 2008. He was also preceded in death by a son, Dale Edward Carder, who died May 26, 1955, a brother, Ralph Carder, and two great-granddaughters, Madison Temm and Lucy Mitchell.

Survivors include three sons, Dr. Darrell (Gail) Carder, Topeka, Dee Carder, Bacliff, TX, and Doran (Rhonda) Carder, Peoria, AZ; a daughter, Donetta (Dr. Stan) Farr, Valley Falls; eight grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

The Memorial Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 21, 2016, at the Valley Falls Christian Church. Inurnment will be at the Valley Falls Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls.
