Donald Ken Bukacek, 75, of Mayetta, KS, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2024 at his home. He was born August 22, 1949 in Leavenworth, KS, the son of Charles Frank and Dorothy Katrina (Schneider) Bukacek.

He graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1969. Don enlisted in the United States Army in 1968, serving two tours in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1971.

Don worked most of his life as a Quality Assurance Tech at Hills Pet Foods for over 32 years. He also worked for Goodyear in Topeka, KS, Mountain Wine in Aurora, CO and Iron Foundry in Wisconsin.

On November 11, 1972, Don was united in marriage to Sharon Ann Smith. They shared over 52 years of marriage. To this union they shared three children, Brandy, Angela and Jennifer.

Survivors include his wife Sharon of the home; 3 daughters, Brandy Renee Moten (Kevin) of Hoyt, KS, Angela Lucille McDaniel (Jason Nichols) of Oskaloosa, KS and Jennifer Dawn Dent (Mark) of Paola, KS; brother, Steve Bukacek (Cheryl) of Topeka, KS another brother and 2 sisters; 6 grandchildren, Abby & Haley Harding, Loren (Megan) & Hunter McDaniel, Vanessa & Jordyn Barbosa; bonus great-granddaughter, Margo and great-grandchild "on the way".

Celebration of Life will be from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 12, 2024 at the Holton V.F.W. Post 1367 building. Memorials may be given to the Holton V.F.W. Post 1367 c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
