Topeka- Denzyl "Vic" Derry, 70, of Topeka, KS passed away May 24, 2009 at his home after a long battle with cancer. He was born August 6, 1938 in Holton, KS the son of Luther and Opal Trundle Derry.
He had lived 35 years in Topeka and previously in Holton. He was a custodian for Washburn Rural High School for about 10 years. He had also worked for several heating, plumbing and air companies in Topeka and Holton.
Vic married Alice Mae Rignell on April 3, 1978 in Oklahoma. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Christina Rakestraw of Silver Lake; 3 sons, Steve and Ron Burton both of Topeka, Gerry Cramer of Lawrence; a sister, Betty Kolbek of Holton; 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2009 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be in the Holton Cemetery. Vic will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Hospice Care of Kansas c/o Mercer Funeral Home P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
