Dennis Lee Hower, 57, of Topeka, KS, formerly of Holton, KS, passed away tragically in Topeka. He was born December 29, 1965 in Holton, KS, the son Warren C. and Mary M. (Todd) Hower.

Dennis graduated from Holton High School in 1984. He attended Highland Community College and 3 years at Emporia State University.

He worked for TARC Sheltered Living, Capper Foundation and 501 School District as a Paraprofessional, working with the developmentally disabled. In his free time, he would volunteer at St Francis Hospital, Big Brothers and Sisters and Sunflower State Games, assisting with Boccia Ball para-athletes.  He was a member of the Evangel United Methodist Church in Holton and was attending Countryside United Methodist in Topeka.

Survivors include 2 sisters, Linda Allen of Atlanta, GA and Wanda Tope (David) of Independence, MO; brother, Roger Hower (Cindy) of Holton, KS; 5 nieces; 1 nephew and 8 great-nieces and great-nephews, and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Mary Hower and brother, Russell Hower.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 27, 2023 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow at the Holton Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home. Dennis will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Saturday.
