Dennis Lynn Hayes, 62, of Topeka died December 3, 2013 at Stormont Vail Hospital.

Dennis was born April 12, 1951 in Holton, KS, the son of Charlie & Edna (Conger) Hayes. Dennis graduated from Wetmore High and served in the Army National Guard. Dennis was a heavy equipment operator and belonged to Operating Engineers Local Union 101.

He married Kinta Abbott on October 3, 1990 in California. She survives of the home. He is also survived by: a daughter, Denise Hayes of Topeka; a son, Derek Hayes of Topeka; grandchildren, Kelsi, Dawson, Ryley and Jasmine; a sister Marsha Gifford of Arkansas City and brothers, Rick Hayes of Washington, Darrell Hayes of Washington, and Randy Hayes of Great Bend, KS and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie & Edna Hayes, and his grandparents Carl & Grace Conger and Albert & Ellen Hayes.

A Celebration of Life will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton, with visitation from 1-2 p.m. Mr. Hayes will be cremated after the service with inurnment at a later date.
