Obituary

Dennis James Dickinson, 68, of Holton, KS, passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka. He was born April 18, 1952 in Holton, KS, the son of Noel "Bill" and Gene Marie (James) Dickinson.

Dennis graduated from Jackson Heights High School. He graduated K-State University earning a degree in History and later graduated from University of Texas at Austin earning a Master's Degree in Special Education.

Dennis was a Special Education Teacher for visually impaired children in East Texas and Kansas City, MO for over 42 years; before moving to Holton in 2019.

He was a member of United Methodist Church in Springhill, KS and was a special caller for square dance in East Texas.

Dennis married Cynthia Sue "Cindy" Bonner on March 18, 1978 in Bridgeport, TX. They celebrated over 42 years of marriage.

Survivors include his wife, Cindy of the home; daughter, Suzy Rhodes (Alex) of Olathe, KS; son Luke Dickinson of Overland Park, KS; 2 sisters, Ellen Wallis of Overbrook, KS and Edith Davey of Canandaigua, NY; a brother, Jerry Dickinson (Lynn) of Holton, KS; 2 grandsons, Jacob and Colton Rhodes.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.  Burial will follow at the Mayetta Cemetery.  Family will greet friends one hour prior to service time. Memorials are suggested to Kansas School for the Blind in Kansas City, Kansas and Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Austin, Texas c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O.
