Dennis D. Bishop, 58, Valley Falls, died June 11, 2011, at his home.
He was born on Dec. 2, 1952, at Topeka, the son of Robert Dale and Edith Adelia May Bishop. He graduated from Highland Park High School in Topeka.
Dennis had been a welder and machinist for TW&M Inc. at Valley Falls, Hamm Quarries at Perry and the Kansas Department of Transportation. He had also been a truck driver for Frito-Lay and Fleming Foods.
He married Gladys Freeland on Aug. 18, 1972, at Valley Falls. She survives. He was preceded in death by his parents and a stepmother, Louise Hedrick Bishop.
Survivors include three daughters, Heidi (Clayton) Hawk, Valley Falls, Tammy (Ryder) Brading, Meriden, and Amy Bishop, Lodi, N.J.; two sisters, Connie (Jim) McBee, and Cheryl Bishop, all of Topeka; and three grandchildren, Laikyn and Nathan Hawk and Rhys Brading. Another grandchild is expected in the fall.
The memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 18, 2011, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls. Inurnment will follow at the Valley Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m., Saturday, until service time.
