Holton-Dennie Martin Jewell, 88, of Holton, passed away June 27, 2008 at Medicalodges Jackson County in Holton. He was born May 14, 1920 in El Dorado, KS the son of Charles and Vaughn Hazel McCormick Jewell.
He attended Lincoln High School in Lincoln, KS and after high school moved to Tipton, KS. He moved to Holton in the 1940's and worked on several farms in the area doing general farming and trucking. Dennie always helped his brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and friends whenever needed.
Dennie is survived by 4 sisters, Carrie Schroder of Hunter, KS, Mildred Traphagen of Hoyt, KS, Ruth Hittle and her husband Bernard, Jr. of Carbondale, KS, Vaughn Kreider and Richard of Horton, KS; a brother, Charles Jewell and Colene of Mayetta, KS and several nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Kate McGee and Nellie Coloff and 4 brothers, Ray Jewell, Bill Jewell, John Jewell and James Jewell.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
