Obituary

Delbert K. Stockwell, 82, Wichita, formerly Valley Falls, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014, at the Sunflower Meadows care facility in Wichita.

He was born Jan. 25, 1932, at Valley Falls, the son of John W. and Anna T. Jacquire Stockwell. He graduated from Valley Falls High School in 1950, and received a B.S. degree in accounting from Wichita State University in 1963. Delbert served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-55, attaining the rank of Staff Sgt. He was stationed in Illinois, Arizona and Greenland.

Delbert worked at Boeing Aircraft in Wichita from 1955-64. He was an administrator for the US Postal Supply Service in Topeka, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Lions Club and Grahem-Herbers Post 3084, Veterans of Foreign Wars, both in Valley Falls, and the Epworth United Methodist Church in Wichita. He had served on the Valley Falls City Council.

He married Marlene Simpson April 20, 1958, at Wichita. He was preceded in death by a brother, George Stockwell.

Survivors include his wife, Marlene, of the home; a son William (Cheryl) Stockwell, Wichita; and a daughter, Debra Stockwell, Topeka.

A Memorial Service will be at a later date with inurnment at the Valley Falls Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice in Wichita, or to the Jefferson County EMS District 11, and sent in care of Mercer Funeral Home, PO Box 6, Valley Falls, KS 66088.
