Delbert R. Gilleece, 62, Valley Falls, died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016, at St. Francis Health Center in Topeka.

He was born Oct. 29, 1954, at Manhattan, and was adopted by Veryle and Martha Gilleece. He graduated from Valley Falls High School and from Kaw Area Vocational Technical School in Topeka.

Delbert was an equipment operator for the Jefferson County Road and Bridge Department. He had worked for Alamo Manufacturing at Holton. He had attended the Valley Falls Christian Church and was a past member of the Valley Falls Saddle Club.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Amy Cummings, Nov. 15, 2012, and his brother, Eldon W. "Buck" Gilleece, March 26, 2002.

Survivors include his daughter, Kelly Heinen, Valley Falls; his parents, Veryle and Martha Gilleece, Valley Falls; his brother, Greg Gilleece, Isabel, KS; his sister, Kris Carothers, Scranton; and four grandchildren, Jordan, Henry and Mike Cummings, and Alucard Heinen.

The Graveside Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016, at the Valley Falls Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Valley Falls Christian Church or to Jefferson County EMS District 11, and sent c/o Mercer Funeral Home, PO Box 6, Valley Falls, KS 66088.
