Harold Dean Hune, 86, of Holton died Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at The Pines in Holton. Dean was born August 26, 1924 Northeast of Holton. He was the son of Delmer C. and Nina U. Ozment Hune.
Dean went to Pleasant Grove Grade School and graduated from Wetmore High School in 1942. He served in the US Army during WWII. He worked at JC Penney in Holton, Kansas City and Topeka from 1952 to 1975. Dean then operated Bender Hardware from 1975 to 1990.
He was married to Virginia J. Barnes on December 28, 1951 in Holton. Virginia preceded him in death on April 8, 2006.
Dean is survived by his nephew Jay Barnes (Cathy) and his children Hayley and Jayme of Ozawkie, KS, his niece Lora Ray and her daughter Shellsea of Olathe, KS, and his nephew Kelly Ray and his children, Jessica, Paul, Sammy and Jack of Phoenix, AZ.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday August 13, 2011 at Mercer Funeral Home. Burial will be at Holton Cemetery. The family will greet friends Thursday evening August 11, 2011 from 7-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
