Obituary

David Lee Pierce, 76, of Topeka, KS, formerly of Abilene, TX, died Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at a Topeka care facility. He was born October 13, 1932 in Parker, TX the son of D.L. and Nina Virginia Adair Pierce. He graduated from Seminole High School in Texas in 1951 and attended Washburn University in Topeka.
Mr. Pierce had lived in Abilene, TX for 50 years before moving to Topeka in 2007. He had also lived in Germany for 3 years and in California for a year. He was in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years, retiring as a Tech Sergeant. He worked at Dyes Air Force Base in Abilene as assistant fire chief for 20 years.
He was married to Juanita O. Chrisman on August 3, 1955 in Topeka, KS. She survives. Other survivors include 3 grandchildren, Kenneth Lee Pierce, Kimberly Rae Pierce and David Allen Pierce all of Cleburn, TX. He was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Lee Pierce in 2007.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton, KS. Interment will be in Olive Hill Cemetery, 10 miles west of Holton. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
