David Ray Keefover, 36, of Oak Harbor, WA passed away May 19, 2009 in Houston, TX, at his parent's home. He was born August 9, 1972 in Lakewood, CA, the son of Robert and Jane Spiker Keefover.
He graduated from Lumberton High School in 1991. He joined the Navy in 1997 and served for 11 years. He served on the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson during Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. He also served on the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz during Operation Iraqi Freedom. While serving on USS Nimitz he was attached with the VAQ 135 fighter squadron. He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Fire Science in 2008.
David is survived by his son, Bryce Edwin Ray Keefover, age 8, his parents, Bob and Jane Keefover; sister, Amy Renee Keefover-Hicks and her husband, Anthony; grandparents, Warren and Betty Rickson, and Alma Spiker. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Harmon Spiker in May 1986.
David was cremated. A memorial service will be at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the Bryce Keefover Educational Fund c/o Mercer Funeral Home, Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
