Darrel D. "Dusty" May, 75, of Denison, KS passed away January 11, 2011 at Loma Linda University Hospital of Loma Linda, CA. He was born January 20, 1935 in Woods County, OK the son of Hubert "Toby" and Mary Grace Cummings May.
Darrel graduated from Denison Rural High School and later served in the United States Army. He had lived the last 30 years in California and previously in Denison, KS. He was a heavy equipment operator, a crop duster and a farmer. He was a former member of the Denison Union Church.
Darrel married Marilyn Jane Brownlow, they later divorced.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Butler and her husband Donnie of Holton, KS; a son, Daniel May and his wife Lori of Topeka, KS; two sisters, Doreen (Ronnie) Huston of New Braunfels, TX and Sharon (Max) Hollander of Whiting, KS; step-mother, Barbara May of Holton, KS; step-siblings Dennis (Adele) Reed of Florida, Peggy (Sammy) Gibson of Texas, Patty (Mike) Lockhart of Kansas, Fred (Pam) Coker of Florida, Harry (Sharon) Coker of Kansas and Brett Coker of California. three grandchildren, Korey Butler, Justin Butler and Amanda May and three great grandchildren, Ava, Conner and Emree Miles-Butler; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday January 18, 2011 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Interment will be in the Denison Cemetery. Family will greet friends Monday evening at the funeral home from 6-8:00 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Jackson County Fair Assoc.
