Dale Francis Starr, 89, of Holton, KS formerly of Soldier, KS passed away May 5, 2011 at Eastridge Nursing Home in Centralia, KS. He was born May 5, 1922 in Soldier, KS the son of Charles Dickson and Emma Dorothy (Pollock) Starr.
Dale graduated from Soldier High School in 1940 and had attended K-State University. After college he served in the Army Air Force in China, Berma, India during 1943 -1946. He was a dairy farmer and with his wife owned and operated Starr Farm Service in Soldier, KS until retirement in 1998. Dale was a member of the Circleville Christian Church, Soldier Lions Club and lifetime member of Holton VFW Post #1367 and Holton American Legion.
He married Mary Emily McKinsey on May 9, 1943 in Soldier, KS. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Robert Dale Starr (Bernita) of Topeka, KS; 2 daughters, Donna Simmons (Allan) of Soldier, KS and Dianne Alford (Harold) of Topeka, KS; a brother, Marvin L. Starr of Holton, KS; 2 granddaughters, Becky Howerton and Brandy McGovern and a grandson, Steven Starr and 9 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Natalie Jo Howerton.
Mr. Starr was cremated. Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday May 11th at the Circleville Christian Church. Family will greet friends one hour prior to service.
