Dale F. Owings, 78, of Manhattan, formerly of Holton passed away February 23, 2011 at Meadowlark Hills in Manhattan.
He was born March 12, 1932 in rural Soldier, Kansas, the son of Clyde F. and Clara A. (Myers) Owings. As a young boy he attended Mt. Olive Church. Shortly after graduating from Soldier High School, Dale enlisted with the United States Air Force, and proudly served his country. On December 20, 1952, he married Mildred R. Green at Forbes Air Force Base Chapel in Topeka. Dale retired from the Air Force after 20 years of service. Mildred preceded him in death on January 7, 1994 after 41 years of marriage.
He is survived by: his daughters, Karen Sue Murray and her husband Roy of Soldier, KS and Peggy Kay Owings of Holton, KS; his sons, Robert Dale Owings and wife Marie of Monticello, FL and David Duane Owings and wife Debbie of Grand Ridge, FL; and his five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday February 26, 2011 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial with full Air Force honors will follow in Soldier Cemetery. There will be no formal visitation.
