William "Dale" Askren, 87, of Holton, KS passed away on Friday, December 8, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Dale was born July 11, 1936 in Circleville, KS the son of Jess Lee and May Irene (Wilkerson) Askren. He graduated from Circleville High School in 1954.
After high school, Dale worked for Strader Drilling from 1954-1958. He then graduated from Northside Barber College in Wichita, KS. He cut hair for 12 years in Holton. Dale went back to work for Strader Drilling and retired after 38 years as a manager.
On September 15, 1956, Dale was united in marriage to Ilah Rose Brown at the Circleville Methodist Church. They shared over 67 years of marriage. Dale was a member of the Circleville Christian Church, the Masonic Lodge #20 and OES #293 all of Circleville, KS.
Survivors include his wife Ilah Rose of the home; son Kent M. Askren (Jackie) of Rossville and a daughter, Lesa L Beam (Mike) of St. George, KS; 2 sisters-in-law, Renae Askren and Cletamae Brown both of Holton; 6 grandchildren, Megan Steiner (Weston), Garin Beam (Ashley), Skyler Beam (Darbey), Seavor Askren, Spensor (Jessilyn) Askren and Sawyor (Paola) Askren; and 11 great-grandchildren, Macy, Kason, Cannon, Lakin, Ellie, Baker, Trace, Cooper, Ayla, Ike, KendriAnn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Bonnie J. Strader; brother, Don Askren, and granddaughter Kendra Askren.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at the Circleville Christian Church in Circleville. Burial will follow at the Holton Cemetery. The family will greet friends 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday evening at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Dale will lie in state starting Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.
