Corolyn "Corky" M. Scheidegger, 79, of Holton, KS made the move to heaven on September 18, 2009. She was born May 19, 1930 in rural Glenvil, NE the eldest daughter of Lenord F. and Ella Eggers Meester.
Corky graduated from Glenvil High School in 1947 and attended 2 years at Hastings Community College. She taught school in one room rural school houses for 7 years. She was baptized, confirmed and married in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Glenvil, NE. She loved to bowl and enjoyed bowling throughout the world, she enjoyed making quilts to give to her children and grandchildren, she played fast pitch softball in her earlier years (two years in a row they were all -State Champs in Nebraska). She was a member of the Lutheran Church, a member Holton VFW Auxiliary Post #1367 and Wetmore American Legion Auxiliary Post #282.
Corky met Dale Scheidegger while he was stationed with the Marines in Hastings, NE. They were married on November 20, 1955 and were blessed with three children, Sheila, Kenneth and James.
Survivors include her husband, Dale of the home; a daughter, Sheila Ann Fritzemeier of Wichita, KS; a son Kenneth Dale Scheidegger of Olpe, KS; 2 sisters, Jeanette Shauers of Chicago, IL and Lenora Larson of Donavan, NE; 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Pvt. James Robert Scheidegger and a sister, Marian Peters.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Holton. Interment will be in the Holton Cemetery. Family will greet friends 6:00- 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or Holton Community Hospital Hospice c/o Mercer Funeral Home P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
