Cora A. Martin, 96, of Holton died Thursday, August 30, 2012 at Medicalodge Jackson County in Holton. Cora was born February 21, 1916 in Luray, MO, the daughter of William A. and Clara Schnebly Heinberg.

Cora attended Luray High School and graduated from Chillicothe Business College. She was a bookkeeper for J.C. Penney for 18 years. Cora had also lived in Kansas City, MO, Oakley and Topeka, KS and in Yakima, WA.

Cora was a member of Evangel United Methodist Church in Holton, where she was a long time member of Crusaders Sunday Scho
ol Class. She was also a member of V.F.W. Post #1367 – Ladies Auxiliary.

Cora married Harl M. Gorman on April 15, 1950 in Kansas City, MO; he preceded her in death on January 22, 1973. She married Howard C. Martin on June 18, 1981 in Harrah, WA; he preceded her in death on December 27, 1986. She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Robert Michael Gorman; a step-son, Dave Martin; sisters, Lucile Heinberg and Esther Lorigan; brothers, Carl, William and Charles Heinberg. Cora is survived by a step-son, Don Martin of Hillsboro, OR and a step-daughter-in-law, Kathy Martin of Yakima, WA.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Interment will be in Holton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time Tuesday.
