Constance "Connie" Sue Slattery, 64, of Topeka, KS, formerly of Mayetta, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at her home. She was born September 25, 1952 in Holton, KS the daughter of Francis Michael and Lucille Marie (Scheve) Slattery.
Connie was raised in Mayetta and lived many years with her mother on their Mayetta farm. In later years she lived in various group homes in Topeka, including SLI and Loving Hearts. For the past 2.5 years she lived with the Porter family in Topeka.
Connie loved music and movies her entire life. Her favorite movie was the Wizard of Oz. Throughout her life she enjoyed traveling, eating out and spending time with family.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include two sisters, Mary Frances Slattery (Howard Bishop) of Fenton, MO; Martha "Marty" Slattery (Morton Pellatt) of Salt Lake City, UT; two nephews, Daniel Francis Pellatt of San Diego, CA and Andrew Jared Pellatt of New Orleans, LA; and her loving caretakers, Charity and Ken Porter and their son, Carson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Mayetta. The family will greet friends one hour prior to Mass. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery at Hoyt. She will lie in state beginning Saturday afternoon at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. A Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be given to TARC or Dream Catchers c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O.
