Colene Jewell, 80, of Mayetta, KS passed away Monday, May 11, 2015 at Holton Community Hospital. She was born June 21, 1934 in Atchison, KS the daughter of Henry Watts and Mae (McNenee) Watts Maxwell.

Colene graduated from Atchison High School in 1952. She was Supervisor of the Department of Revenue for the State of Kansas for 18 years.

She was a member of the Mayetta Coffee Club and 4 Corner Club.

Colene married Charles P. Jewell on August 25, 1954 in Hiawatha. He survives of the home. Other survivors include 3 daughters, Patsy Jewell of Mayetta, Paula Henry of Hoyt and Penny Hegemann (David) of Mayetta; 2 sons, Mike Jewell (Cindy) and Charles Jewell (Lee) both of Mayetta; 2 sisters, Dorothy Cassity of Lawrence and Barbara Weber of Auburn; 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Watts; her mother, Mae Maxwell; her step-father, Raymond Maxwell and a sister, Shirley Lewman.

Memorial Service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 15, 2015 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Inurnment will follow in the Mayetta Cemetery.
