CLYDE B. UMSCHEID
Clyde B. Umscheid, 67, Perry, died Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, at his home.
He was born on Dec. 13, 1941, at Flush, the son of Anthony C. "Tony" and Elsie Cochran Umscheid. He graduated from Flush High School. He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Perry.
Clyde was a District Supervisor for Kansas Wildlife and Parks Law Enforcement Division, retiring in 2006. He had been the Perry Chief of Police and had also worked for the Shawnee County Sheriffs Department.
He married Leona "Vicki" Petersen on Feb. 9, 1968, at Miami, OK. She survives. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Francis Umscheid, Duane Umscheid and Marvin Umscheid and a sister, Lola Helget.
Survivors include a son, Brent (Nicole) Umscheid, Perry; two daughters, Carolyn (Ken) Cammarato, Chapel Hill, NC, Stacey (Johnny) Weil, Edna, KS; step-son, Garry (Vicky) Wells, Lecompton; a brother, Carrol Umscheid, Topeka, and nine grandchildren.
Family and friends will gather for a service at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009, at St Theresa Catholic Church in Perry followed by a visitation. Cremation will follow. Private burial with honors conducted by the Wildlife and Parks Honor Guard will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, north of Perry, at a later date.
