CASEY

HAVENSVILLE- Clarence Tulloch "Tec" Casey, 96, of Havensville, KS, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2008, in Holton, KS, following a brief illness. Tec was born April 11. 1912, in Corning, KS, the son of John Alfred and Guadalupita "Pita Lou" Jaramillo Casey. He was the third child in a family of four sons and two daughters, Alfred, Edwin, Raymond, Nell Skinner and Jane Fanning, all who have preceded him in death.
Tec was educated in the Corning community, graduating from Corning High School in 1931, where he excelled in track and represented CHS in the state relays at Baker University. He married his high school sweetheart, Edna Shaffer on September 7, 1933. Edna preceded him in death on May 21, 2002. Three daughters were born to this union. They are Janice Marie (Harold) Hodge, Holton, KS, Karen Rae (Evan) Stewart, Leawood, KS, and Patricia Ann (Craig) Kershner, Dighton, KS. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Eric (Colleen) Hodge, Lawrence, KS, Kelly (Roger) Boatwright, Marion, VA, Heather (Eben) Hall, Liberty, MO, Casey Kershner, Prairie Village, KS, Ashley Stewart, Olathe, KS and Aubrey (Jake) Urban, New York, NY, nine great grandchildren, Joshua, Garrett and Cameron Hodge, Jordan, Luke and Jace Boatwright, Jake, Quinn and Grace Hall and a host of other family and friends who will greatly miss him.
The Caseys farmed in the Corning and Vermillion, KS communities before moving to Havensville, KS in 1942, where they resided for the next sixty plus years. Tec was a man of integrity who worked his land and raised his family with a zeal and fervor "second to none". He often said he was determined to leave his place "a better place than he had found it!" Tec's life served as a role model for many who knew him.
He served his church, Bucks Grove United Methodist Church and his community in many capacities. He was a sixty year member of the Masonic Lodge #188 of Onaga, KS, where he served as past Master, a charter member of the Pottawatomie County National Farm Organization, served as a school board member of Havensville High School, was a member of the Soil Conservation District of Pottawatomie County, a 4-H Club leader and a precinct committeeman.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Family will greet friends 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Corning Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the C.T. and Edna Casey Memorial Scholarship Fund or Bucks Grove United Methodist Church c/o Mercer Funeral P.O.
